Privacy Policy

The short version
Chatfolio keeps everything in your own browser. We do not collect, store, sell or share your chats or any personal data. We have no servers that receive your data, and the extension contains no analytics or tracking.
What Chatfolio stores, and where
- Saved chats: the address (URL), title, folder, tags and note of the chats you choose to save. Stored with the browser's extension storage (
chrome.storage.local) on your device. - Imported conversations (Pro): when you import the official export file from ChatGPT or Claude, the text of those conversations is stored in the browser's IndexedDB inside the extension, on your device.
- Licence (Pro): your licence key, its status and the e-mail address Gumroad returns for it, stored locally so Pro keeps working offline.
You can delete everything at any time by removing chats in the panel or by uninstalling the extension.
What leaves your browser
Only one thing: when you activate Pro, and about once a day afterwards, Chatfolio sends your licence key and the product identifier to Gumroad's licence verification service (api.gumroad.com) to check that the subscription is active. No chat content is ever sent. Payments are handled by Gumroad under Gumroad's privacy policy; we never see your card details.
How Chatfolio reads chat pages
On chatgpt.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com Chatfolio adds a button. It reads the page only when you click it: the chat's address and title when you save it, and the messages shown on your screen when you export it. Files you export are created on your device and saved where you choose.
Permissions
- storage – to keep your folders, saved chats and licence on your device.
- sidePanel – to show the Chatfolio panel.
- tabs – to open a saved chat when you click it in the panel.
- Access to chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com – to show the Chatfolio button on those sites.
- Access to api.gumroad.com – to verify a Pro licence key.
Children
Chatfolio is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
